Dr. Seuss Day!

Dr. Seuss Day (his birthday!) is such a fun holiday in elementary school.
It's coming up rather quickly, too!
His birthday is actually on March 2nd, but this year we'll celebrate on March 1st!

Last year, we celebrated all week long with math stations, literacy stations, writing, and so much more.
Who doesn't want to celebrate the inspiring, rhyming, childhood favorite, Dr. Seuss?!

One of my ESL firsties drew this in honor of The Lorax movie that came out last March! Little fancy artist!!

My Mentor Teacher had a bunch of precious ideas and we found more fun all over
Pinterest and the bloggy world--so I wanted to share a few ideas with you, too!

Just in case your feeling a bit hungry/need a bit of sugar:

My Mentor Teacher found the idea on Pinterest and it was a huge hit with the kiddos!
Click {here} to see the original idea.
All you need is some lifesavers, oreos, and vanilla frosting--YUM.
(And yes, we were still trying to use up all of the Christmas plates :))

These little pattern hats came from mathwire.com and they have tons of other Seuss inspired goodness!
I should maybe will do a whole post on this website one day. It. is. AWESOME.

There is a second page of hats that the kiddos use to finish the patterns!
Check out the rest of their great ideas {here}.

And finally, a little arts and crafts goodness:

I simply typed in "lorax mustache template" on Google and this gem came up in the search--
so feel free to do the same if you'd prefer another mustache!

We copied ours onto yellow cardstock paper, but you could also have the littles color it in.
I would definitely recommend cardstock so that the mustache is sturdy enough!

Here are the super easy steps:
1. Color
2. Cut
3. Glue (to a popsicle stick)

And voila! A precious little lorax mustache!
They made for some pretty hilarious pictures!!

Happy birthday, Dr. Seuss!
