I'm linking up (for the first time!) with Doodle Bugs Teaching and the five for friday party!
It's the perfect way to recap a full and busy week!!
Click the picture below to join in the fun!
:)
1. I found a new favorite book!!
Oh my goodness--it is so precious!!! It's all about looking at equations from a different perspective (and the illustrations are GREAT!). It could be used to teach about character, manners, music, creativity, and so much more! Here are some of my favorite examples:
me + you = us
practice + practice + practice = mastering
anything + sprinkles = better
yes + no = maybe
cozy + smell of pancakes + sleep - alarm clock = weekend
Click the cover to check it out on Amazon!
2. We hosted a Mathematics of Planet Earth Professional Development night at school.
The event was a huge success and so much fun to put together!
2013 is "the year of the Earth" (or something like that--according to all these researchers and doctors) so there is an extra emphasis on math + science this year.
We made a scaled playdoh model of the solar system and played a beach ball globe game to talk about the amount of land+water on the face of the Earth!
Click the cover to check out the official website! {NCTM} also has tons of resources for elementary teachers!
3. It only seemed appropriate for my golden birthday :)
When else will I be able to wear sparkly gold nail polish?!
4. Just a little bit of testing...
5. And finally, the book that has me captivated.
I literally started it yesterday, but WOW.

"No parent/home/child/teacher/school has an all-round 100 percent wholeness. We all have limitations and problems. But I must never think that it is everything or nothing. If you can't give them everything, give them something."
I just really, really like that.
It reminds me that I'm a human and I am flawed, but I serve a great, big, perfect God.
:)
And that makes my heart smile.
Thanks for sticking around friends!
Happy weekend!!
I love that book! Totally going on my wishlist! Thanks for sharing
